In an interview with The Sunday Times, singer Sam Smith discussed his sexuality and stated that he does not identify solely as a man or a woman (as the singer has not expressed a preference for other pronouns, we will continue to use “he” and “him” in our coverage).
“I’m not sure what the title would be, but I feel just as much like a woman as a man,” he told the BBC. outlet, explaining that he experiments with clothing and footwear (“I love a heel. I’ve got a lot of heels at home.”) and does not adhere to a single style of dressing.
“There was a time in my life when I didn’t own a single piece of male clothing,” Sam explained. “I would wear full make-up, eyelashes, Dr. Martens leggings, and huge fur coats every day in school for 2.5 years.”
So, what is really Sam Smith’s Sexuality?
Sam Smith’s sexuality is described as non-binary and genderqueer.
According to NCTE, the majority of people, including the majority of transgender people, are either male or female. Some people, however, do not neatly fit into the categories of “man” or “woman,” or “male” or “female,” and have a gender that blends elements of being a man or a woman, or a gender that is different than either male or female. Some people do not identify as either male or female. The gender of some people shifts over time.
Sam Smith’s sexuality was one of the question clarified by Jameela during her Instagram interview with the singer. Sam discussed listening to conversations about being non-binary and realizing that was how he identified.
